Avenged Sevenfold drummer found dead at home

Avenged Sevenfold drummer James Owen 'The Rev' Sullivan was found dead in his Huntingdon Beach home yesterday (December 28) at approximately 1pm PST. He was 28 years old.

The Orange County Coroner's Office is currently investigating his death, but at this stage it is thought Sullivan died of natural causes.

"It is with great sadness and heavy hearts that we tell you of the passing today of Jimmy “The Rev” Sullivan," reads an official statement from the band. "Jimmy was not only one of the world’s best drummers, but more importantly he was our best friend and brother. Our thoughts and prayers go out to Jimmy’s family and we hope that you will respect their privacy during this difficult time. Jimmy you are forever in our hearts. We love you."

Kerrang!'s thoughts are with Sullivan's friends and family at this sad time.

I was so gutted when I found this out.
I can't think about A7X without getting all sad again, he was so charismatic. I really hate to think how the band are right now.
Considering they were in the writing process of the album, I wouldn't be surprised if they stopped it. He was such a talented musician.

In addition to Jacobson, over 50 musical artists have commented upon the death of Sullivan. Sullivan's funeral was held on January 6, 2010. In attendance were the family and friends of Sullivan as well as bands such as Lostprophets and Brian Haner Sr.
